What does a 585 or 750 stamp mean?
It shows how many parts per thousand are pure gold. 585 means 58.5% gold (14K) and 750 means 75% gold (18K).
Why do buyers pay less than the gold value?
Buyers melt and refine the gold and keep a margin. If you compare a few buyers, 60–80% of the gold value is realistic. A single quick offer can be much lower.
How do I weigh my jewelry at home?
Use a scale that shows tenths of a gram, like a jewelry or letter scale. Kitchen scales often round to whole grams, which matters for small pieces.
Do stones count?
No. The calculator counts gold only. Stones add weight but are not gold, so a piece with stones contains less gold than the scale shows.
